Justice Stephen Breyer is an attoney and Jutice on the Supreme Court.  He was appointed in 1994 by President Bill Clinton.

His card reads:

“Freedom under the constituition means two very different things. The first- a very ancient liberty- is the freedom to take part in government.  That’s called democracy.  The second- a more modern liberty- is the freedom to lead our lives free of government control- for example freedom of speech. If our government is to work both kinds of freedom are nessasary: an active participation in civic life and protection agaist tyranny-even by the majority.”
