Jimmy Carter was the 39th President of the Untied States; during his term he appointed record numbers of minorities and women to significant government jobs, he revamped the Social Security system and was a significant part of the Camp David Accords.  After Carter left office he became a great supporter of Habitat for Humanity and received the Nobel Peace Prize for his "efforts to find peaceful solutions to international conflicts, to advance democracy and human rights, and to promote economic and social development." Most recently he is noted for writing the book, “Palestine: Peace Not Apartheid.”
